In Envigado, a municipality of just over 228,000 inhabitants, located a couple of minutes from Medellín, Antioquia, two brothers are building a sustainable business that aims to conquer all of Central America and a couple of South American countries. The company was founded just over five years ago, but has achieved accelerated growth thanks to its ambitious concept: making clothing from plastic recovered from the sea.
Bohio, which translates to cabana or kiosk, offers a textile solution for the beach, but under the concept of a fabric made from plastics and waste collected from the sea. “We thought how cool it would be to have cool , cool clothes with original designs, but also to be able to contribute something to the environment. From there, we began researching and found suppliers who had finished fabric made from all these plastics that came out of the sea,” adds Juan Camilo, the financial head behind the brand’s expansion strategy.
