Instagram and its stuff: what we miss from before
Instagram, that social network that used to be a space for spontaneity and authenticity, now seems to have become a catalog of planned and viral content. But what happened to what we loved about it? Here's a look back at those things we miss (and that, hopefully, will one day return).
1. Real photos: When Instagram showed you your friend hanging out with his aunts
Before, you'd open Instagram and see that blurry photo of your friend eating waffles with his aunts in a park. It wasn't viral or produced, but it was real, and that was enough to make you smile. Now, it seems like casual photos are buried under layers of algorithms.
2. The pressure of being content creators
The sad thing is that Instagram isn't just a social network now; it's a platform where we all "have" to be content creators. It's as if spontaneity has been replaced by a constant competition for creativity, where authenticity takes a backseat. What if we just want to share something simple and unfiltered?
3. Where did the puppies and random things go?
Dog photos, casual landscapes, walks with friends, random things that didn't need context... all of that seems to have been displaced because it "doesn't generate engagement." And yes, it's those little things that used to make Instagram a less hectic and more human place.
4. We're already fed up with "5 Things You Didn't Know"
Seriously, Instagram, enough with the posts that promise to reveal secrets of the universe (that aren't so secret, after all). We want to see our friends enjoying a day at the beach, opening their new bohíos, or just laughing without worrying about being "interesting" to the algorithm.
Instagram, if you're reading this (and if your algorithm allows it): give us more of what's real, what's simple, what connects us with the people we love. Because at the end of the day, that's what matters. And also, please, more dog photos. Thank you.
